Brain Food ┃ Winter Retreat

Wybalena Organic Farm, Byron Bay, Australia

8-11 August 2025

If you could optimise your brain health and function, would you want to know how?

There is so much research on the tools we can use to optimise brain health. This highlights how much control we have in not only shifting how our brains work but helping it in the long-term. It’s never too late to start and all it takes is an open mind and a little curiosity of getting to know your brain better.

This retreat is designed to give you an insight into how you can add simple tools to your everyday life for better brain health and function. Every aspect of the retreat is centred around evidence-based neuroscience, including, the retreat setting, the food and activities. It consists of 4 days of connection, movement, nutrition, deep rest and little snippets of neuroscience. You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience to attend.

You will be supported with two morning Yoga or Pilates practises daily. The first session will be for those who are more inclined to rise with the sun and the second session will be for those rising later. This is to account for differences in our intrinsic circadian rhythm or our “chronotype” and ensures our sleep is not compromised. The classes are suitable for all levels of experience. The afternoon and evening sessions will be for deep rest and relaxation. All sessions are optional. If you need some time to yourself, you’re more than welcome to skip sessions.

There will be 3 hosts supporting you during this retreat, including myself, Sushil Atik and Sana Atik. Sushil is a Yoga teacher, a Pilates instructor, Gong healer, massage therapist and a Reiki master teacher. Sushil will be guiding the Yin & Reiki sessions as well as the Yoga Nidra and sound healing sessions. Sana is a qualified physiotherapist, Pilates and Yoga teacher. Sana's clinical background is in treating and managing complex and general conditions from the orthopaedic, spinal, pain, musculoskeletal and chronic disease settings. She will be leading the Pilates sessions throughout the retreat.

'Wybalena' is the original name of the farm and a beautiful Aboriginal word meaning 'resting place; refuge'.

Located on 170 acres within the Byron Bay Hinterland, Wybalena is a purpose-built retreat venue set amongst serene countryside and untouched bushland. The venue is approximately a 40-minute drive from both Gold Coast airport and Ballina airport.

The yoga studio overlooks the private valleys of Wybalena farm, flooded with natural light. Throughout the retreat you’ll have access to the main house, with a large banquet style dinning table, large open plan kitchen and a cosy lounge room with open fire. The wellness facilities are set amongst lush gardens and includes a magnesium pool, infrared sauna and ice bath, all within a few steps of each other, complimented by two outdoor showers. You can enjoy full access to the facilities throughout the retreat.

We will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor firepit, surrounded by lush gardens and nestled underneath a beautiful poinciana tree with sandstone block seating. There’ll be opportunities to explore the nature trails, including a lush silent rainforest walk. You can also take a little dip in the rainforest creek or spring fed dam.
