Brain Food ┃ Science & Spirituality

Hotel Sages, Canggu, Bali

17-21 October 2025

What if you didn’t need to choose between believing in Science or Spirituality?

Science has taught us that our mindset is so important.

One of my favourite things Dr Alia Crum (Associate Professor of Psychology at Stanford) shares from her research is that "the total effect of anything is a combined product of what you're doing and what you think about what you're doing".

This retreat is an opportunity for you to learn a little bit more about your brain and an opportunity to rethink, whether this is rethinking your beliefs or simply how you live your life. I hope you leave with a little curiosity and an open mind.

The retreat is designed to give you an insight into how you can add simple tools to your everyday life for better brain health. All of the practises and tools offered in this retreat stem from ancient practises and science is slowly catching up. Throughout the retreat I will be sharing the science behind ancient and spiritual practises, bridging science and spirituality. Not because ancient practises need to be validated by science but rather providing a different way of understanding it.

There is a small component of this retreat which I like to call magic. Creating a space for spiritual practises has been a challenge for my science mind, but these practises and tools have helped me out of some dark moments and spaces, and they are also part of my ancestry. For some of these practises I've managed to find scientific explanations for, in order to help me understand and process them better, but for some there is no scientific explanation. But a lack of evidence does not mean no evidence. To me, things that are unexplained in this world is the little bit of magic, and to not believe in something where there is a lack of evidence means not believing in magic.

Every part of this retreat is optional, you are welcome to take what feels right for you.

You will be supported by two hosts during this retreat, including myself and Sushil Atik. Sushil is a yoga teacher, pilates instructor, gong healer, massage therapist and a reiki master teacher, and my mum. Sushil will be guiding some of the yoga sessions as well as the reiki energy workshop.
